Knife bayonet, Germany (GDR), for the MPi KM 1959 automatic rifle

50.00 €

It is almost an exact copy of the Soviet bayonet to the AKM automatic rifle of 1959. It differs from the Soviet model in its black sidepieces and insignificant details of the carrying strap. The bayonet was used with MPi KM automatic rifle, which is a copy of the Soviet automatic rifle AKM. A number of bayonets were used to arm sapper units in the Israel Defense Forces.
The bayonet blade is single-blade. The combat end is two-bladed, with a concave blade on the shoe side. The blade has a notch in the shape of teeth on the shoe, allowing the bayonet to be used as a saw. In the front part of the blade there is a rectangular hole that allows attaching the bayonet to the sheath and using the construction as a cutter. The handle is formed by two plastic cheeks fastened to the blade shank with two rivets. Cross with a ring on the blade side of the blade. The handle head has a T-slot and a spring clip with an internal spiral spring arrangement. The spring clip button is fenced with a plastic edge. Steel scabbard. The upper part of the sheath is covered with a rubber lining with a limiter for hand girth when snacking on live wires. The carrying strap is made of leather.
On the rubber pad there is a number 5998, there is no such number on the Soviet samples. On the metal parts of the bayonet there are stamps of technical inspection. The number on the bayonet (if any) is engraved in the T-slot of the handle head.
